Retirement Housing Accommodation
About
Housing for the elderly
The Hastings District Masonic Trust has a number of housing complexes in and around Hastings, Havelock North and Waipawa. We have begun building two more brand new establishments too.
These housing units cater for older individuals and couples. Should you consider applying for accommodation administered by the trust, being over the age of fifty-five and having the ability to look after yourself are the principal criteria we look for.
Retirement Pensioner Rental Flats
These one bedroom units are available should you be unable to gather the capital contribution required for the larger units. You can pay the rent fortnightly from your pension.
Retirement Contribution Units
These are units available to you if you have the required capital sum advance and a weekly service charge which covers your rates, insurance and any internal and external maintenance required. The trust pays for the complex’s security lighting, gardens and lawn care. Residents are encouraged to tend the gardens around their units but assistance is available should they become incapacitated.
How the Capital Scheme works:
The Trust has set a contribution figure for each of its units based on valuation. Incoming residents are required to pay the capital sum advance prior to moving into the unit. The Capital Sum Advance is held in Trust and is repayable, (less the site management fee) under the terms of an occupation right agreement, which incoming residents sign with their solicitor at the time of purchase.
